We are hearing heartbreaking stories at the aged care Royal commission. However, the stories are not new. Over the past decade, numerous inquiries have heard evidence of inadequate personal care, neglect, abuse and assault in age care homes. Why have both coalition and Labour governments ignored the recommendations from all these inquiries?
Government and the federal health department need to listen to advocacy groups, residents, families and staff instead of committees, Peak bodies and consultants who are part of the broken system that has failed older Australians.
