After yet another apocalyptic fire (“Victoria burns”, 11/1), we need to talk about the elephant in the room: climate change. When I was a university student back in the early 1980s, I first heard the evidence about human-induced climate change. Over the next 40 years, the evidence has become more conclusive and more terrifying. We now have six Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports, each providing a systematic review of the evidence. Before it’s too late, we must stop the climate wars and focus on climate action.
